Morley postcards are now on sale

POSTCARDS of old Morley are now on sale at the Morley Observer and Advertiser offices.

The packs of eight for 1 are being sold to raise funds for the Morley Community Archive Group.

The group has put together three different packs of eight postcards showing some of their favourite scenes of Morley in days gone by.

The postcards are also available via the archive group’s website www.morleyarchives.ik.com

Those interested in local history can also sign up, via the website, to become a Friend of the Morley Community Archive.

Costing just 5, membership means discounts on products sold by the group and invitations to events throughout the year.

Their next such event will be hosted by the Mayor of Morley Joyce Sanders in Morley Town Hall on July 25, from 7pm.

The archive group is currently expanding the section on coal mining and are asking anyone with old photographs of Morley’s mines or miners to come forward.

The group will scan the photographs and include them in their archive before returning the originals to the owner.

If anyone has any old photographs or documents to be included in the Morley Community Archive they should contact Joe Tetley on (0113) 253 7596.
