Morley Amateur Operatic Society will present their production of Musical Extravaganza III, which will feature a compilation of songs from different musicals, such as Chicago, The Sound of Music, Wicked and Little Shop of Horrors.

The show will also feature Linda Rowberry and her daughter Melanie Harris, both of whom have appeared in many MAOS shows in the past. However this year it will be a real family affair as Libby - Linda’s grandaughter and Melanie’s daughter - will also be starring in the show. Melanie was a dancer at the society for then years, whilst Linda was an actress and had stared in various of the society’s productions, including Fiddler On The Roof.

Whilst Linda’s passion has been for music and singing, she feels that this particular production will be the one she will enjoy the most.

“This year is particularly special to me as both my daughter Melanie and granddaughter Libby are in the show.” she said. “So it is a real family affair.”

Libby followed in her mother’s footsteps and became interested in dance from a very young age.

“Watching Libby perform and enjoy it so much encouraged me to return to the stage.” said Melanie.

“I love the feeling of being part of such a friendly society; everyone supports each other. There’s such an array of amazing talent within the group.”

Since it is Libby’s first production alongside her family, she is feeling the buzz from the theatre atmosphere.

“I am so excited to be in the Extravaganza, especially because my mum and grandma are also performing in it,” she said. “I have been a part of the Saturday morning club for three years and have made some fab friends there.”

Melanie, who helps to run the Kids’ Club, said she was feeling excited and proud at the same time.

“We have a fantastic choreographer in Jo Cooke, and an amazing pianist James Greatorex,” she said.

“The children are all potential future members of MAOS and I am proud of every single one of them”.

Musical Extravaganza III will run from Tuesday, September 30 to Friday, October 3 at 7.15pm with a Saturday matinee on October 4t at 2.15pm.
