A CHURWELL nursery and out-of-school playscheme has become the first in Morley to receive an “outstanding” report by Ofsted.
Staff and children at Play@Churwell are delighted with the results of their inspection at the start of the year.
Inspectors who visited the nursery, which has a self contained building in the grounds of Churwell Primary School, said they were pleased with everything they found.
The glowing report said: “The quality of the provision is outstanding. Staff have an excellent knowledge of each child’s individual needs which ensures they promote all aspects of children’s welfare and learning successfully.
“Excellent partnership with schools and organisations ensure children’s needs are met particularly well in his highly inclusive setting. Staff are highly motivated and ...strive for excellence.”
Manager Michelle Dunn said: “We’re really pleased, the staff have worked so hard for this.
“They are just fantastic but we have also received a lot of support from everyone, the school had always been very good to us, very accommodating, and we are run by a voluntary management committee.
“Because they work behind the scenes people forget about them but if they weren’t there then we wouldn’t be able to run.”
She went on to thank Janet Harrison and colleagues from Churwell Action Group who assisted in providing outdoor learning activities and who donated a bird feeding station.
Play@Churwell opened in 2002 and settled at Churwell Primary in 2005. Since then they have gone from strength to strength and now have 137 children on the roll.
