Plans in place to remember the Fallen

Preparations are underway for Morley’s Festival of Remembrance, which takes place on Friday November 6.

The annual festival is one of the town’s most poignant events in the calendar and unites Morley folk in remembering the Fallen, as well as those still serving in the Armed Forces.

Morley Academy Choir and Morley Operatic Society will be among the groups contributing to the occasion and musical pieces by Elgar and Gibbons will be performed.

Individual stories from the World War One trenches will be heard and the service will be completed by the Royal British Legion and the Rev Mike Godfrey.

Chairman of the Morley Remembrance Committee Terry Grayshon said: “Once again as the annual Remembrance tide arrives the annual Festival of Remembrance takes place. This year, as always, we have a selection of performers who are joining us to remember those who have fallen in conflict. I’m particularly pleased that this year, Colonel Alan Roberts OBE Kstj will be joining us to light the candle in memory of those who have fallen.”

The service starts at 7.30pm at Morley Town Hall.
