A man who disappeared after being released from prison on licence may be in Leeds.
Police say the public should not approach Barry McGrath, who was given a two-year sentence for affray and possessing an offensive weapon in May last year.
The 36-year-old, who was released early on September 11, is now facing more time behind bars after breaching the terms of his licence by failing to stay at an approved address in York and for displaying poor behaviour.
North Yorkshire Police are looking for him in York and Scarborough, but say West Yorkshire Police are helping with the search because McGrath has connections in Leeds and Bradford.
Insp Mike Fenton, of the Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood team, said: “It is very important that Barry McGrath is arrested and returned to prison as soon as possible.
“He is fully aware of the conditions placed on his early release from prison, yet he blatantly flouted them within days of getting out. This is completely unacceptable behaviour and we will not allow him to make a mockery of the criminal justice system and the law-abiding public who have to foot the bill.”
