Detectives would like to speak to a woman who was seen getting in a car on Gelderd Road.

Police were called to the junction with Leeds Ring Road, at around 6.15pm on Sunday after reports of a woman, who appeared to be drunk, getting into a man’s car.

The vehicle’s details were taken and officers traced the car.

A 48-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody.

The woman was described as white, slim, aged in her late-teens to early twenties, about 5ft 6ins tall, with shoulder-length brown hair.

She was wearing a white vest top, a blue, orange and red ‘Aztec’ skirt and one black slip-on shoe.

A police spokesman said it has been suggested the woman was later dropped off in the Farnley area.

Det Sgt James Entwistle, of Leeds District CID, said: “We are currently conducting detailed enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

“We are treating it as a suspicious incident on the basis of what was reported to us and we urgently need to identify the woman involved and establish that she is okay.

“I would ask that she or anyone who knows who she might be contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Sgt Entwistle at Elland Road by calling 101 and quoting log number 1266 of Sunday, August 30.
