IF you’re already hearing the words ‘I’m bored’ from your children this school holiday then Striker Tots summer schools could be the answer you’re looking for.
The footballing school, which caters for children aged from two to 11, is holding sessions in and around Morley.
Striker Tots is the brainchild of ex-professional footballer Richard Graham who started his own playing career, aged just five, with Churwell Lions.
After spells at Gildersome Spurs and representing Leeds City Boys, he was offered a professional spot with Oldham Athletic, where he had a 10 year career until a knee injury forced him into retirement aged 25.
Richard, 36, and his partner Kirsty Hill, of King George Avenue, are now hoping even more young people will join the sessions which have so far proved very popular.
Kirsty said: “Children have been attending and in that time have developed and learned new football skills and played lots of games. They have all had great time and are already asking when the next course will be.
“We have forged links with both Churwell Lions and Tingley Athletic so that we have excellent junior clubs to send our Striker Tots to when they are ready to progress.”
The Striker Tots programme teaches and develops all the basic football skills as well as fitness, balance and co-ordination. It also promotes good health and wellbeing and enables children to interact with others.
There are two summer schools, which are week-long courses, for six to 11, which are held in both Morley, at the ground of Churwell Lions on Nepshaw Lane, and Tingley, at Tingley Athletic’s ground on Casson Avenue, East Ardsley.
Normal Striker Tots sessions, for two to four year olds, are held in and around Morley and people can book their children onto the sessions, which run in terms of eight weeks.
