It’s that time of year again to get your pumpkins ready for Morley’s Halloween competition.

The Lantern Festival and fancy dress dance party will take place on Thursday October 29 and due to the success and popularity of the event in previous years, it has been decided that admission to the disco will be by ticket only.

Tickets are available now from either the town council office (on the lower ground floor of Morley Town Hall) and Sprinklynn Gems, on Queen Street.

Each person attending the event will require a ticket and there’s a maximum ticket issue of six per person.

The event is aimed at under 11s and all children are encouraged to enter a pumpkin lantern in the competition and take them to the chessboard in Windsor Court for 6pm.

All lanterns entered will be displayed ready for judging, which will start at 6.30pm. The results will then be announced at the fancy dress party with first, second and third prize trophies, provided by Morley Lions, will be awarded.

All children are invited to go in Halloween costume and must be accompanied by an adult.

If you want any further information call the town council office on 0113 2474370.

And if Halloween hasn’t come around soon enough, Christmas be here before you know it and, as every year, Morley will be lit up ready for the Christmas shoppers.

The big switch on, complete with Rhinos players, fairground rides and lots more, will be on November 19.
