After eight years of campaigning for a better bus service for Morley, two ne services are being introduced.

Campaigner Andrew Paver, who has been at the forefront of the fight to get a better service for Morley passengers said: “After eight long years of discussions between councillors, Bruntcliffe Road residents and Metro, we are delighted that two new bus services are being introduced.”

Mr Paver said that theservice 54 will be run by Firstbus, operating on an hourly service, Monday to Friday between Batley Bus Station, via the old 213 route running along Bruntcliffe Road, towards King George Avenue, continuing to Leeds Bus Station.

The service will start on February 21. Timings are yet to be confirmed.

Also the Arriva service 214 will run Monday to Friday from Birstall Business Park and the White Rose Centre, running along Bruntcliffe Road and along Fountain Street and on to Morley Town Centre, via Middleton Road and Wide Lane.

This service will start on February 20. Again, timings are to be confirmed.

Mr Paver said: “We hope that the community of Morley will take advantage to see what’s on offer within the Birstall Retail Park area.

“If the service proves popular we hope the service

hours and days may be extended. This is the only service from Morley that will operate to the Retail Park and will allow shoppers to leave their cars at home. We understand that for those passengers wishing to visit Dewsbury hospital that there will be a service from Batley bus station.
