A talented designer has won himself a place at a top London British footwear retailer.
Former Bruntcliffe High School pupil Ben Donlan has moved to the capital to work for Kurt Geiger after being offered an internship the same day as his interview.
Ben, of Monk Ings Avenue, Birstall, graduated from De Montfort University, Leicester, where he studied footwear design, in May.
Ben, 22, said: “It all happened very fast.
“I am chuffed to get the internship - it’s a rare opportunity.”
Ben will be working in the men’s department of the company, developing new products.
Ben will be at Kurt Geiger for three months.
His footwear creations have already taken to the stands in River Island after impressing so much during his work experience at Wetherby-based NorthStar, which has design contracts with high street chain stores, that his colour schemes were taken up and will be sold nationwide this year.
Even though Ben’s work concentrates on men’s footwear, he is hoping to maybe design for women too.
He said: “It’s an eye-opener and very busy in London, but it’s great to be going into work every morning doing something that I really enjoy.
“It’s great to be doing something that I love to do and having the security of going out to work.
“I am going to embrace every moment of it!”
