Young visitors to the White Rose Shopping Centre had their hands full as it played host to a petting zoo.
Cute animals including chicks, ducklings and bunnies took up temporary residence in the mall’s central atrium for the fun springtime event.
Children were also able to demonstrate their eagle-eyed tracking skills by entering a mini-scavenger hunt, with an array of sweet prizes on offer.
And there was a welcome boost for a good cause as well – although the event was free, Families were encouraged to show their appreciation by making donations to Mencap, the centre’s national charity partner.
Francesca Simpson, marketing manager at the White Rose, said: “We were really excited to bring a splash of spring to the centre.
“It was a real treat for our young shoppers to get up close to the animals during their visit. We have previously had donkeys and reindeer visit the centre, which went down a storm with our customers, so we’ve been looking forward to welcoming shoppers to enjoy meeting some new animals.”
Youngsters who took the chance to acquaint themselves with some of the cute and colourful characters at the petting zoo included eight-year-old Jess Boyd and six-year-old Leila Birkin.
l Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield will be at the centre tomorrow to sign his new book from 3pm-5pm at WHSmith. Tickets can be bought at WHSmith or online via Ticketmaster.
