A caring service that supports families during difficult times is searching for new volunteers to join its team.
Home-Start Leeds is looking for people across the district who can give up their time to help make a difference.
The city charity supports families by carrying out home visits to struggling families with at least one child aged under seven.
A spokeswoman for Home-Start Leeds said: “Families seeking our help are incredibly diverse with the challenges they face ranging from poor mental health to debt issues, being an asylum seeker to the ups and downs of having a number of small children.
“At the heart of what we do are trusting human relationships in which families have the chance to share and talk with someone who will not judge them and has the time to listen.”
The charity, founded in 1987, also supports families who are expecting a baby.
Prospective volunteers will attend a 15-week Home-Start preparation course, once-a-week.
The free training courses run throughout the year at various times.
During the training period, the charity will reimburse expenses for volunteers as well as providing a crèche for those with young children.
The spokeswoman added: “For many volunteers, their journey with Home-Start is the first step to building their confidence and self esteem, or making that move into further training or paid work.”
