A teenager has won praise for triumphing over adversity and winning a prize at the Leeds Apprenticeship Awards.
Budding beautician Xena Daniels, 17, works at the Peaches and Cream salon on Wesley Street in Morley, combined with her studies at the Yorkshire College of Beauty Therapy.

Xena, from Churwell, was awarded the Against All Odds prize after she returned to college just three days after breaking her leg in an accident.
The college said she was the “most dedicated student they’ve ever had”.
Proud foster parents David and Tracy Holroyd said they were delighted for their daughter.
Tracy said: “We’re over the moon and so proud of her.
