THE latest assault on the vulnerable and defenceless elderly citizens of Morley, Armley and Seacroft by Leeds City Council, as yet more care homes for the elderly or day centres face closure by an arbitrary decision, is a squalid disgrace.

For many years the Leeds district was bedevilled by Leeds City Council’s unspoken policy of giving gypsies and travellers two choices: Cottingley Springs or, as it is always full, nuisance camping by the roadside or on football fields.
Following publication of your frontpage story ‘999 Delay Fears’ (April 8 2015) I would like to set the record straight and most importantly reassure residents in the Morley area that they can be confident of continuing to receive a responsive 999 emergency service from us.
