Morley RFC return to action after a week off with a massive match as they travel to take on second from bottom Pocklington in what looks like a must-win encounter in the Northern Premier.
With the Maroons in danger of getting adrift at the bottom they can ill afford to lose to opponents just one place above them, but know a convincing victory can lift them off the basement as they go into Saturday’s match five points behind Pocklington and have a better points difference.
However, Morley are yet to taste a Northern Premier win this season with nine defeats and only one draw and they have lost all four of their away games so far.
They do go into the match off the back of an improved defensive display in a bonus point narrow loss to Rossendale while Pocklington have lost their last three league matches and have leaked points with 66 conceded against Lymm, 40 at home to Harrogate and 53 at Preston Grasshoppers.
Morley will be hoping for some encouraging injury news after key attacking full-back Dante van der Merwe picked up a neck and shoulder injury in the last game.
Callum Rogers also had to go off with a nasty elbow injury against Rossendale to add to a sick list that has hampered the Maroons’ chances in the first half of the campaign.
Three games away from the half-way point they are 13 points behind fourth from bottom Sandal with three teams relegated from the Northern Premier.
