Three tries late in the first half proved to be the difference as Morley were edged out by National 3 North high fliers Firwood Waterloo 18-11.

The Maroons fell behind to a fourth-minute penalty but hit back with Tom Richmond’s try and Kenny Sewell’s penalty to lead 8-3.

Waterloo’s dominance of the second quarter of the game was rewarded with tries from James Smith, Carl Nolan and Matt Crow.

Sewell’s second penalty on the stroke of half-time reduced the arrears but the visitors held out in a scoreless second half.
