Jane takes up new role

MEMBERS of methodist churches in and around Morley flocked to St James' Hospital Chapel to the welcome service of the Rev Jane Parker (pictured) who has been appointed as Assistant Chaplin for the Trust.

Prior to her new post, Rev Jane was the minister for Churwell and Gildersome Methodist Churches. Fifteen other clergy attended the welcome service, some who had travelled from as far away as Liverpool.

Lawrie Mawson, senior steward at Tingley Methodist Church, said: "Jane has done a wonderful job and we are sorry and disappointed that she has left."

The service was led by Rev Chris Swift, the head of Chaplaincy Services at the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS trust, with the address being given by Rev Michael Townsend, chairman of the Leeds District Methodist Church.

Rev Jane, who still lives in Tingley with her family, said she was looking forward to preaching in the Morley circuit in the future.
